Why Economic Indicators API

Macro data, cached cleanly.

Latest in one hop

GET /series/:id/latest returns the current observation without pulling a full window.

History with a cap

GET /series/:id accepts limit 1 to 60 (default 12). BLS series cap at 5 observations.

Three official sources

FRED, World Bank, and BLS behind one catalog so dashboards do not juggle three clients.

Keyless World Bank

World Bank series work without an upstream key. FRED and BLS use server-side keys.

Catalog discovery

GET /indicators lists id, name, country, source, unit, and requiresApiKey.

Long-TTL cache

fromCache and updatedAt tell you when the series was last assembled.

/api/v1/economic-indicators

Endpoints, at a glance.

Catalog, history, latest values, and a bundled interest-rate summary. All GET, all cached.
GET/api/v1/economic-indicators/series/:id/latest

Most recent observation for a catalog id, plus cache status.

FAQ

API questions developers ask first.

Which series can I request?

Use GET /indicators for the catalog. Each entry includes id, name, country, source, unit, and whether a server-side key is required.

How do I get just the latest observation?

GET /series/:id/latest returns the most recent date/value pair plus cache status. GET /series/:id returns history with limit 1 to 60 (default 12).

Do I need FRED or BLS keys?

Not on your side. World Bank series are keyless. FRED and BLS use server-side keys and are flagged requiresApiKey in the catalog. Unknown ids return 404.

Why does BLS history look short?

BLS series cap at 5 observations regardless of a higher limit. Other sources honor limit up to 60.

How do I authenticate requests?

Send your Datpaq API key as an x-api-key header or an api_key query parameter. Keys are created in the Datpaq dashboard and a free tier is included.

Add macro series in one request.

GDP, inflation, employment, and rates from FRED, World Bank, and BLS, with caching that keeps dashboards fast.
