Invalid query parameters or a missing required symbol/symbols value.

401Authentication Error

Missing or invalid gateway API key. Send x-api-key or api_key with every request.

404Not Found

Symbol absent from the snapshot dataset, or an unknown route.

429Rate Limit Error

More than 200 requests in a 15-minute window per IP.

502Processing Error

Live provider request failed or returned an invalid payload.

503Feature Gated

mode=live requested without live provider credentials configured server-side.

FAQ

API questions developers ask first.

How do I look up a single company's market cap?

GET /api/v1/market-cap?symbol=AAPL returns the latest market cap, company name, sector, and currency for that ticker.

Can I rank companies by market cap?

Yes. GET /top returns a ranked list with optional sector, minMarketCap/maxMarketCap range filters, sort direction, and a configurable limit (1-50).

How do I compare multiple companies?

GET /compare accepts a comma-separated symbols list and returns found records plus any symbols missing from the snapshot dataset.

What's the difference between snapshot and live mode?

Snapshot mode is always available and returns deterministic values from the cached dataset. Live mode calls a live provider and requires provider credentials — pass mode=live to try it.

How do I authenticate requests?

Send your Datpaq API key as an x-api-key header or an api_key query parameter. Keys are created in the Datpaq dashboard and a free tier is included.

Add market cap data in one request.

Symbol lookup, top-cap rankings, trend analytics, and multi-symbol comparison, backed by a deterministic snapshot dataset.
